Silky Split Pea Soup
This is a lovely soup you may prepare in advance and warm up for ease of entertaining. I often use as an appetizer served in a small teacup with a cheese stick.
A's Creamy Tomato Soup
I was making this soup during the “lockdown” and didn’t have a recipe but I DID have a great can of tomatoes from Italy. I kept testing it and it didn’t quite taste right Then, the “ah ha” moment ………..sugar counteracts acid. I added 2 tablespoons and it was PERFECT!
Simple Pork Posole
This is a great soup for serving a crowd. It’s hearty, flavorful and fun to serve with all the condiments.
Balthazar's (NYC) French Onion Soup
Although this can be time-consuming, its well worth the effort. You can prepare all ingredients in advance and simply warm the soup and assemble (then broil) just before serving.
Irish Stew
The traditional version of Irish stew is done with lamb, which may be substituted here. Feel free to skip the Guinness, just add an additional cup of water, but it adds a ton of flavor; the alcohol burns off so it's save to serve to the whole family.
Anthony Bourdains Mushroom Soup
This is a ridiculously easy soup to make. It's tasty and durable, and it gets even better overnight.
White Bean Turkey Chili
This is such a hit every time. It's a nice variation from traditional red chili and has a ton of flavor. Its great to serve a crowd and goes well with a nice warm slice of cornbread and butter.
